The Isabel Jurado Foundation was incorporated in October 2005, with the mission of providing funds for research and family support for Sanfilippo Syndrome and closely related diseases. The Foundation was formed exclusively to receive and administer funds for scientific, educational, and charitable purposes within the meaning of 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Isabel Jurado Foundation is classified as a public charity, not a private foundation.

The inspiration for this foundation comes from:

• Its namesake Isabel Jurado and all the children around the world suffering with Sanfilippo Syndrome and related diseases.
• MPS families who have led the way for medical research by starting similar foundations.
• Families we have met along our journey who despite (or possibly because of) their circumstances remain strong in their faith and choose to make the most of every day with their children.
• Above all our Creator and Redeemer who tells us to "Let light shine out of darkness." ~ 2 Corinthians 4:6

The mission statement of the Isabel Jurado Foundation includes 2 primary missions for the organization:

Financial Support for Research The Isabel Jurado Foundation is dedicated to funding research for effective treatments for Sanfillippo Syndrome so that in the future children will be living full and healthy lives with this disease rather than dying from it.

Financial Support for Families Many families are not only dealing with the emotional stress from this disease but also the financial burden of caring for one more more terminally ill children. Read more about those struggles and how IJF is trying to help them on our Family Support page.
